DO NOT GOOGLE DIRECTION (unless you want to add a couple of hours onto your trip to the reservoir).
Follow I-25 to Exit 141 US-24 W; Cimarron St.
Go west and stay on US 24 up the mountain to Woodland Park
Turn right at the McDonald’s onto Baldwin Street (name changes to Rampart Range Rd eventually)
It’s now 12 miles to the lake:
-
Take a right onto Loy Creek Road
-
In two miles, Loy Creek Road ends. Take a right back onto Rampart Range Rd.
-
In four miles (bumpy dirt road), take a left into Rampart Reservoir. There is a sign there and the road is now paved once again.
-
A day park pass is required at the self-pay station.
-
Stay on the main road (don’t turn into campgrounds) which will lead you to the dam and the security guard. He will give you specific instructions, just let him know you are there to go fishing with the guide.
-
After crossing the dam, proceed to the furthest parking lot and look for Bob’s vehicle with his logos on it. You have arrived for your adventure!
-
This is a good time to visit the restrooms before hitting the water.
